Dancing with the Delaware Stars (DWDS) has become one of Delaware’s premier events, with local celebrities partnered with dance professionals to perform a judged dance routine similar to the hit television show.  All dance couples vie for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.  Couples are judged based on dollars raised, judges score and votes from the public.

“I am beyond excited to be chairing the 2021 Dancing with the Delaware Stars. As my first year as chair, I am humbled to be following in the footsteps of Terri Brown, founder of the event.  This is Mom’s House of Dover's primary fundraiser and enables us to continue our mission of providing quality daycare for single parents enrolled in school full-time,” states Jackie Mayan, Event Chair and Board Member.

Why do we do it? The stars dance for hope and opportunities for the kids. For the kids that do not have a safe haven, positive peer groups, or role models. They dance so they can help the children have a safe and nurturing environment that will help guide them to the right paths. And for the parents who are trying so, so very hard to make a better life for their children. Mom’s House and Boys & Girls Clubs provide opportunities these kids  and parents would not have otherwise.

What an amazing way to show them there is hope, that there is still good in this world, and to show them people do care.  My dream is that my efforts and the efforts of all involved with this great cause, will aid in improving the quality of lives of many in our communities.
